Christmas in Marinette 2018


Please join the City of Marinette, Marinette Welcome Center, Marinette Fire Department, Stephenson Public Library, Bay Cities Multi-Media Center, Santa Claus and the Grinch, as we CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS in MARINETTE on Saturday, December 1st. 

Local businesses, non-profits, churches, youth groups, schools, and any other interested persons are encouraged to "ADOPT - A - TREE " on Stephenson Island; there is NO FEE to participate. Decorating should be done early of November 19th - 30th. All identified trees will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be marked ahead of time. Forms and stakes can be found at the Marinette Welcome Center from 9am - 3pm, on Facebook Events, or at Marinette City Hall. All registered trees will be entered into the BEST OVER-ALL DECORATION; Judging will take place following the Tree Lighting Ceremony by members of the Marinette City Council, Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot, and their helpers. The traveling trophy will be awarded to the winners. 

The 2018 Holiday Craft Show will take place at the Marinette Middle School located at 1011 Water Street from 9am - 3pm. The gym is filled with a myriad of vendors. The Marinette Booster Club will provide food for sale and entertainment will be on-stage during the course of the day. The Marinette Fire Department located at 1450 Main Street will host their annual OPEN HOUSE from 11am - NOON. Everyone will have a chance to meet the fire fighters, tour the station, enjoy refreshments and treat, and SANTA will stop in on his way to lineup for the parade.

Christmas in Marinette ANNUAL PARADE will begin at 1pm with line-up at Main and Water Street at Noon. Entry to the parade as FREE and everyone is ENCOURAGED to participate; Entry forms can be found on Facebook Events, City Hall - Mayors Office (located at 1905 Hall Ave) or at the Marinette Welcome Center (located at 1680 Bridge Street). All participants will be entered to WIN the traveling trophy for "BEST OVER-ALL ENTRY".  The parade will then proceed down Main Street to Liberty Street. 

The Stephenson Public Library will have SANTA visiting from 2pm - 4pm. Santa will be reading and taking pictures with the children. Librarians will be on hand to assist children at the holiday craft table with "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" crafts to be made. Friends of the Library will be providing refreshments. 

The Marinette Welcome Center will be hosting an afternoon of FUN with FREE horse-drawn sleigh rides from 1:30pm - 4:30pm, FREE pictures with the GRINCH, music, refreshments, treats, and giveaway items for those who visit. 

NEW this YEAR the City of Marinette is going to light CITY PARK for the entire month of December. If you'd like to be a part of having a walk-through lighting of City Park then please contact Adrienne at the Civic Center 715-732-5222 to learn about this amazing opportunity. 

Also, NEW this YEAR, the City of Marinette Christmas Committee is decorating Merchants Park in the theme of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Photo opportunities will be available on-site in Marinette's rendition of "Whooville". 

Following ALL of this FUN at approximately 4:30pm, SANTA and Mayor Genisot will walk across the Stephenson Island walking bridge to "light-up" Stephenson Island for Christmas! All carolers, youth-groups and choirs are urged to join us in singing Christmas carols during the ceremony.
