Biosolid Field Spreading Locations Data Collection Method
The GIS data provided to the City of Marinette Waste Water Treatment Plant are approximate locations of DNR approved landspreading fields from 1996-2017 based on the legal description entered in the DNR’s Waste Water database (SWAMP).
The point represents the DNR Waste Water field number of the latitude and longitude value exported from the SWAMP database. The latitude and longitude values are autogenerated using a tool called ST Geometry which uses the full legal description entered into SWAMP.
After displaying these values on a GIS map, some points were just outside the legal description. Where this occurred, the point was moved to the approximate center of the legal description that was entered into SWAMP for that field number.
Where a point fell into a forested area (ie no fields) the DNR obtained the field approval map to verify the location of the spreading. In those instances, the point was moved to the approximate center of the correct legal description based on the map in the hard file and/or a map supplied to the DNR from the City of Marinette Waste Water Treatment Plant. The DNR WW Program will fix the legal description in the SWAMP database to reflect the corrected legal description.
The City of Marinette Waste Water Treatment Plant staff saw that there were some points in the wrong location. They provided DNR a map showing the area of the spreading. The point was moved to match the map provided. The legal description value that the City of Marinette Waste Water Treatment Plant had for these sites in their database matched what DNR had. The DNR WW Program will fix the legal description in the SWAMP database to reflect the corrected legal description values.
The DNR is requesting what the previous latitude and longitude value/legal description displayed table on the Marinette website are not removed, but that the updated latitude and longitude value/legal description value are added to the existing tables along with an explanation of the changes as outlined above.
